A campaign group championing the candidature of the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Bola Tinubu, for the 2023 Presidential election has been launched in Lagos.
Despite the continued silence of Chief Tinubu over his rumoured Presidential ambition, the group, known as the South West Agenda for Asiwaju, “SWAGA 23”, had inaugurated local chapters in Ogun, Ekiti and Ondo States, following an earlier launching of its regional headquarters in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu who attended the carnival-like event in Oregun area of Ikeja, in company of his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat and other top government functionaries commended the SWAGA 23 team, led by Senator Dayo Adeyeye for their commitment to the cause.
In a keynote address titled the “Credentials of the next President of Nigeria”, a Professor of Eco-toxicology at the University of Lagos, Professor Adebayo Otitoju, said the type of President the Country needs at this time is a person committed to its unity, a politician who can sacrifice for the progress of the nation at great personal expenses
Prior to the official inauguration of the Lagos chapter, SWAGA 23 had flooded the streets of Lagos with campaign posters and held consultations with traditional rulers and key stakeholders for endorsement of the campaign.
