OPEC Secretary-General, GMD Of NNPC & Others To Attend NAEC Conference.

The Secretary-General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, Mohammed Barkindo, will next month, lead other notable stakeholders in the oil and Gas industry as key speakers at the Annual Conference of the National Association of Energy Correspondents, NAEC in Lagos.

The conference which is scheduled to take place on November 2 will have the Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, deliver the Special Ministerial Address, while the Group Managing Director, GMD of state oil company, NNPC, Mele Kyari is expected to deliver the keynote address.

The event, which will also be virtual due to the COVID-19 restrictions, is to hold at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, with the theme
“PIA: Energy Transition and The Future of Nigeria’s oil and gas”, considering that
the Federal Government recently declared 2021 to 2031 as “A decade of Gas.”

The conference will therefore provide both the government and industry players the opportunity to highlight some of the derivable benefits from a gas-propelled economy.

On expectations from the Conference, the Chairman of NAEC, Mr Olu Philips said the event will escalate discussions on the recently passed Petroleum Industry Act, PIA and the future of the nation’s energy sector”.

He assured all stakeholders of a robust and balanced discourse, as the country forges ahead in its plan towards energy transition, and implementation of the PIA.

The NAEC Annual Conference has become a flagship event that attracts industry stakeholders and policy makers.
