Arewa in Lagos Opts Out of Protest

The leadership of the Arewa community in Lagos has opted out of the proposed nationwide protest scheduled for tomorrow the first day of August.

Addressing a world press conference today in Ikeja, leader of the Arewa community in Lagos, Alhaji Shehu Usman, said northerners residing in Lagos were in full support of the economic policies of the federal government.

He noted that although the Arewa duly recognised the rights of Nigerians to protest, the group would rather encourage aggrieved Nigerians to embrace dialogue.

He said some fifth columnist were masterminding the protest to destabilize the country for selfish reasons.

Recounting the ordeals of the infamous EndSARS protest, he noted that Lagos is on a steady wheel of progress for the good of all residents just as he called on the protesters not to allow themselves to be used by faceless individuals and groups.
