Aviation Minister Stresses Workforce Excellence at Book Launch

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, wants stakeholders to cultivate a culture of excellence to enhance the growth and development of the sector.

This according to the minister is a key aspect of the government’s efforts to elevate Nigeria’s status on the global stage.

Speaking at a book launch in Lagos entitled “Nigeria’s Aviation Sector: People, Behaviors Behind the Performances”, Mr. Keyamo said, this subject is particularly relevant at a time when Nigeria is striving for excellence in all sectors.

Represented by his Special Assistant, Mrs. Janet Oputa, the minister said, focusing on the people behind the performances is crucial, as the heart of any successful industry lies in its workforce and their collective behaviours

“It captured the essence of what makes our aviation industry tick, providing a blueprint for future improvements and a deeper appreciation of the industry’s complexities. This book is particularly relevant now, as we are in an era of transformation and growth”.

The Minister expressed his hope that the book will inspire further growth and development in the sector, ultimately contributing to Nigeria’s economic prosperity.

The book reviewer and former Managing Director Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Dr. Richard Aisuebeogun said, the book highlighted the impact of the behaviours of people on the industry’s performance either negatively or positively.

“Cites numerous examples of various exhibitions of human behaviour by diverse categories of stakeholders over the years and the effect they have had on the sector. They include operating the industry without a masterplan, running the aviation industry without aviation parastatal boards for several years”.

Key industry Stakeholders, Alhaji Oluropo Owolabi, Dr. Gbenga Olowo amongst others commended the author Mr. Albinus Chiedu, an aviation journalist for contributing his quota to promoting the sector.
