Girl Guides visits Lagos NAWOJ :  agrees on areas of collaboration

The Nigeria Girl Guides Association on Thursday 27 June 2024, paid a courtesy visit on the Nigeria Association of Women journalists, NAWOJ, Lagos Chapter, asking it to amplify the organization objectives and advocate for the protection and empowerment of the girl child.

The National Public Relations Officer, PRO, of

the Nigeria Girl Guides Association, Mrs.Titilola Oluwatoye, made the call during the visit to Lagos NAWOJ, as part of its preparation to mark the 105th anniversary in Ikeja.

Mrs Oluwatoye, who expressed appreciation to the leadership of NAWOJ, appreciates members for taking time out to meet with them, pointing out that,  ” the Girl Guides Association is a voluntary organization open to individuals of all ages, qualifications, and religion, who share a common goal of caring for and empowering the girl child “.

Responding, the Lagos Chairperson, NAWOJ, Dr. Adeola Ekine, appreciated the association’s visit, describing it as timely especially at a time like this when criminal activities are affecting the girl child.

She extended a hand of fellowship, pledging that, ” NAWOJ will join the Nigeria Girl Guides Association in advocating the protection and inclusion of women in positions of power “.

” You have over the years sustained the activities and tempo of the association not allowing it to die. Your dedication to the ideals is top notch, and I wish you all the best as you celebrate the 105th anniversary “. Ekineh

The Chief Commissioner, Deaconess Rhoda Olufunmilola Thomas, expressed gratitude for the warm reception, expressing the hope that the collaboration will embolden the girl child to speak out, leveraging on the power of the media.

She highlighted the potentials for the collaboration between both associations to include, expanding the knowledge and empowerment of the girl child and supporting them whenever the need arises.

 NAWOJ Chairperson, Dr Adeola Ekineh was decorated with the Girl Guides scarf, symbolizing the initiation of their partnership.
