A Coalition of Igbo Political and Socio Cultural Groups and Market leaders in Lagos State has dissociated itself from the planned protest from August 1 to 10
The leader of one of the groups, High Chief Anslem Njoku, who made this known at a news conference in Ikeja, said the development was to clear the air that Igbo people were behind the planned protests.
High Chief Njoku urged Nigerians to embrace the use of constructive dialogue to engage the federal and State governments to make known their challenges and ensure the government implement policies to improve the nation’s economy, rather than engage in violent protests.
The Igbo leader who threw his support behind the administration of President Bola Tinubu, commended him for the establishment of the South East Development Commission and urged the President to ensure the commission is beneficial to all Ndigbo in general.
High Chief Njoku however appealed to President Tinubu to use his good offices to ensure the release of Mazi Nnamdi Knau through a political process rather than judiciary process.
The Coalition embodies sixteen groups which included Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, Igbo speaking community in Lagos, Igbo Market men and Women, Igbo Mandate among others.
