Lagos State Government solicits NUJ Support

The Lagos State Government has appealed to Journalists to inform and educate the public more about it’s laudable programmes geared towards improving the social and economic well-being of the people.

The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat made the plea while receiving the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Lagos State Council, Mr. Adeleye Ajayi in his office on behalf of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, during a courtesy visit.

Governor Sanwo-Olu said that the people needed to know so many laudable programmes that the government had put in place to better the lives of the people under the THEME’s plus agenda which comprises Traffic Management and Transportation, Health and Environment, Education and Technology, Making Lagos a 21st Century Economy, Entertainment and Tourism as well as Security and Governance.

He also called on Journalists to give publicity to government programmes and policies that would benefit the Youths in particular, so as to reduce youths unemployment in the society.

In a speech, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Lagos State Council, Mr. Adeleye Ajayi commended the Lagos State government under Governor Sanwo-Olu for doing a good job in the state in the last five years.

He however, appealed to the government to give better attention to the welfare of journalists in the state.

He urged the government to include members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, in the Lagos State Housing Scheme.

Mr. Ajayi also called on the state government to assist the Union in the provision of a new bus for its operations and furniture for the secretariat.

He however, proposed a quarterly media engagement between the governor and the Media with the aim of promoting the Lagos State government’s initiatives and policies.
