The Lagos State Government has promised to continue to beef up security by providing the required support to the Police to enable them discharge their duties effectively.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu made the promise during the opening of the new Area ‘J’ Police Command administrative building at Elemoro town in Ibeju-Lekki area of the State.

The new building, which has several offices, will serve as a functional holding bay for the Police.

Expressing optimism on the overall output of the State Police Command, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the new facility would further boost the morale of the men and officers who would have one thing or another to do there.

The Governor said other complementary facilities such as conference centre, blocks of residence for the Area Commander, officers’ apartments and equipment were still under construction.

He urged Lagosians to remain law abiding and follow government directives during the COVID-19 pandemic period to assist the security operatives in maintaining peace.

While thanking the State Government for it’s support, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu noted that the provision of the facility is a challenge to the police to do better as the equipment provided along with the facility would make policing from Maroko to Epe very easy to achieve.

Expressing appreciation to the Government, the Paramount ruler of Iwerekun kingdom Ibeju Lekki, Oba Tajudeen Afolabi-Adebanjo who said he personally donated the land for the Area Commmand to ensure development of his kingdom said the Sanwo-Olu adminstration had also approved the construction of a secondary school in the area.
