SON EXPLAINS REASONS WHY SUBSTANDARD PRODUCTS FLOOD MARKET

Are you wondering why there is a preponderance of substandard products in the market?

The Director, Inspectorate and Compliance Directorate of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, SON, Mr. Mark Dakhling said that the reason is not far fetched. He said the Country’s land borders are porous and has too many unofficial routes which smugglers use to bring in substandard products.

Besides, Mr. Dakhling said such products were brought in to the country because some citizens preferred to buy them as they are cheaper.

Another reason according to him is because SON as a regulatory agency is not at the point where eighty-five percent of goods come in to the country which is the seaport.

Mr. Mark Dakhling said that the presence of SON at the Ports would help to reduce the amount of fake products that come into the country.
