The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has advised all prospective candidates to ensure that they register with the National Identity Management Commission.

This is to enable them obtain their National Identification Number, NIN on time and avoid being denied the opportunity of registering for the examination next year.

According to WAEC, the National Identification Number, NIN will be a major requirement for the registration for its examinations in Nigeria from next year.

The Head, National Office of WAEC, Mr. Patrick Areghan made the announcement while addressing newsmen in Lagos.

He explained that the new requirement would take effects from the registration for the 2022 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for school Candidates.

The WAEC boss in Nigeria said this move was in line with the Federal Government’s Policy, as directed by the Federal Ministry of Education.

Mr. Areghan pointed out that with the National Identification Number in place as a major requirement for the registration for WAEC examinations, the Council would be able to further check examination malpractice.
