ANAMBRA ELECTION: LAGOS AASDU TASKS GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATES ON PEACEFUL POLL.

Ahead of the November 6th, 2021 gubernatorial election in Anambra state, candidates of the various political parties have been urged to be orderly and constructive in their campaign programmes to ensure a peaceful poll.

Also, anyone that emerges victorious in the governorship election should be ready to fullfil his campaign promises to the people.

The president of the Association of Anambra State Development Union, AASDU ,Lagos Branch , Sir Amaechi Ebeledike made the call at a forum tagged: Nzuko Umunna, organized by the Association in Ikoyi Lagos on 9th October 2021.

“We invited the governorship candidates in Anambra state here today, to extract from them, the undertaken that they are going to be peaceful in their campaign utterances. We want everyone of them to articulate their Programmes one by one. What they will do for the people of Anambra state if they win the election, their manifestos .So after the election, when the winner assumes office, we will hold the governor to his words.”

Sir Ebeledike who is the Ikedinigwe Anaocha , stressed the need for the economic and social distortions in Anambra State to be addressed .

Also speaking, the chairman of the occasion Chief Nnamdi Obi advised the governorship candidates to be truthful . Chief Obi told the people of Anambra state to vote for credible candidates that would ensure good governance, having listened to the candidates who spoke at the Nzuko Umunna.

“Some of the people here and in diaspora may not be going to the East to vote in the election because they did not register there. However, they can influence the choice of the person their relations will vote for based on the promises the governorship candidates made here today. People should not vote based on materialism.”

Out of the eleven governorship candidates invited by AASDU for the meeting , six attended. They were Sullivan Nwanakpo (ADC) , Chidozie Nwankwo (AAC), Godwin Maduka (A) , Ben Etiaba (AA), Valentine Ozigbo (PDP) and Obiora Okonkwo (ZLP) .

The candidates made various campaign promises. They include addressing security challenges, economic turnaround, investing in education, health system, infrastructure, road construction and sea port.

The Nzuko Umunna was held under strict adherence to Covid 19 prevention protocols.
