Remember the oil subsidy bribe scandal that rocked the House of Representatives in 2012.
It is judgement day for the man in the eye of the storm, Mr. Faruk Lawan who chaired the defunct House of Representatives ad-hoc committee investigating the fuel subsidy fraud.
He bagged seven years jail term today for collecting bribe.
A Federal High Court, Abuja, presided by Justice Angela Otaluka, found Lawan guilty of the three count charge of bribe.
The EFCC had charged Lawan with collecting five hundred thousand dollars of a three million dollars bribe he solicited from an oil tycoon, Femi Otedola to drop his company’s from the investigation.
The court also ruled that Lawan should refund the five hundred thousand dollars.
