LAGOS FRCN MANAGEMENT RECEIVES MIGRATION AWARD RECIPIENT, CHARGES REPORTERS TO BE WORTHY AMBASSADORS.

Reporters in Lagos Operations of Radio Nigeria have been advised to be more creative and be ambassadors of the corporation as they win more laurels and generate revenue through qualitative News reporting.
The Acting Director, Lagos Operations, Mr Istifanus Baba gave the advice in his office Ikoyi while receiving the ‘Migration of the Year Award’, won by the immediate past Head of News department Radio One 103.5 FM, Mr Abiola Peters at the African Migration Summit, held in Accra, Ghana.
Mr Baba encouraged reporters to take advantage of the reputation of Radio Nigeria for professionalism and wide reach, to earn the confidence of prominent personalities and organisations through balanced reportage and further patronage for paid services on the corporation’s airwaves.
He emphasised that revenue generation should be the concern of every Staff.
Mr Baba commended Mr Peters for making Radio Nigeria proud and called on other staff to emulate the hard work and dedication.
Earlier while presenting the award, the General Manager Radio One FM, Mr KoredeOgunbunmi told the Acting DLO that Mr Peters got the award through his commitment to reportage of migration matters.
He described the Journalists International Forum for Migration, JIFORM that issued the award as a body with membership across continents, which has been a leading force in the sensitisation against irregular migration and the gains of regular migration to diasporans and their home countries.
The Assistant Director Presentation of Radio One FM, Mrs Tolu Fasoro and her deputy, Mrs. Lawunmi Akano were present at the event.
The Award of Best Migration Reporter of the Year was presented to Mr Abiola Peters, who is also a Manager News in Radio Nigeria, at the maiden Africa Migration Summit organized by JIFORM in partnership with the NEKOTECH Center of Excellence, Ghana and held on 25th and 26th February 2021, at the Accra International Conference Center,
Others who were honoured at the event included President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana, multiple international award winner and member African Union Labour Migration Advisory Committee, Dr Princess Ocansey; foremost Activist, Professor Patrick Lumumba from Kenya, Chairman, Nigeria’s House of Representative Committee on Diaspora Matters, Hon Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, Governor of Cross Rivers State, Professor Ben Ayade, the International Organisation for Migration, IOM among others.
JIFORM established in 2018 is currently with over three hundred journalists across the continents and is headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria under the leadership of a seasoned journalist and publisher of The Lead Magazine, Mr Ajibola Abayomi.
Preparations are underway for the third global migration summit slated for Niagara Falls, Canada from December 3 – 11, 2021, with the theme “Exploring The Benefits Of Migration To Retool The Global Economy” and is opened to various professionals and organizations.
