SOUTHERN GOVERNORS PRESS FOR PRESIDENCY IN 2023.

The Governors of the Southern States have agreed to work closely towards ensuring that the next president emerge from the South.

They also agreed to promulgate the anti open grazing law before the timeline of September first this year.

These were part of the communique adopted by the Southern Nigeria Governors Forum during their meeting today in Lagos.

Briefing newsmen after the meeting, the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Ondo State, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu said the forum agreed that the nation’s president be rotated between the Southern and Northern parts of the country.

On insecurity, Mr Akeredolu said that the Forum called for the establishment of State Police.

Mr Akeredolu who commended members of the National Assembly for the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill, however rejected the three percent allocation for host communities but supported the five percent raised by the House of representatives.

Metro File’s Yemisi Dada reports that the Forum also adopted Lagos State as its Secretariat for subsequent meetings.

Eight governors were present, four sent representatives and two were absent.
