Nigerian delegates set for Mipcom Cannes next month with commercially viable contents

French government has expressed its commitment to support Nigerian film and television content producers to participate in Mipcom Cannes as this would bring them to limelight to learn and compete with other international counterparts and create more market for their contents.

MIPCOM is an International Market of Communications Programmes and annual trade show for the television industry held in Cannes, France, traditionally in the month of October for four days and the greatest gathering of film and television content producers around the globe.

Speaking at the “”Delegation meet up ” for Mipcom in Lagos , the French Consular General of France in Lagos, Mr Laurent Favier who described Nigeria as having more richly talented people in the creative industry more than other African countries said they are very eager to support Nigerian content producers to be at the right place at the right time as France traditionally supports culture and creative industry to help them attain a larger scale at world stage.

Mr Favier said the creative industry is one of the France’s priorities and Nigeria has the potentials.

In a remark, the founder Nigerian International Film and Television Summit ( NIFN() and organiser of Nigerian delegates to Mipcom Mrs Ijeoma Onah who emphasized the need for broadcasters including television stations to market their contents, said Nigerians need to tell their own stories in a more positive way and expand their distribution market to boast film and television content market globally.

Mrs Onah said Nigerian contents are rich and commercially viable for the international market including food documentaries, films, TV series and shows , fashion and life styles as well.

Earlier the Chief Executive Officer of Accelerate studios Mrs Colette Otusheso who commended French government for their support said that they are ready to showcase the premier of a documentary on Nigeria decolonization which has been on pipeline for a long time said it is time for Nigeria to tell their own stories and honor leaders who have fought for the country’s decolonization.

Over eleven thousand delegates around the world are expected to attend International Market of Communications Programmes.. ( MIPCOM) an annual trade show for the television industry held in Cannes, France, traditionally in 21 -24 October.
