Palmpay marks five years anniversary

There is a need to bridge the gap in financial inclusion by providing accessible and affordable financial services to the unbanked and underbanked population.

So says the General Manager of a leading Africa-focused fintech firm, Palmpay Mr. Chika Nwosu, at an event marking the company’s 5th anniversary in Lagos.

Mr. Nwosu who emphasized the importance inclusiveness by ensuring that the undebanked population are covered , said its innovative product has brought financial solutions to the country’s significant challenges in the past few years

Mr Nwosu said Palmpay has been driving economic empowerment in Africa and riding on technology to support most of the initiatives .

” We want to reach especially to the people who don’t use smart phones, this is visually our major target”.

” For us in Palmpay our major objective is to use technology to support financial inclusion, not just in Nigeria but all parts of Africa “

The Palmpay General manager who also said it’s growth has boosted innovative services and commitment to bridging the financial divide in the country said since its launch in the country, it has experienced explosive growth, with over thirty-five million users.

While stressing on the challenges faced by the firm, Mr. Nwosu reiterated that the firm woud continue to enhance account security of its users first.

” Recently there were some issues of fraud, so we have brought in some tools, some AI tools, Fraud Monitoring tools and we sometimes have a lot of challenges from the regulators side”.

On the journey so far and it’s rapid expansion, he commended Palmpay users for their resilient and sticking with them through their toughest times.

The event featured dance and music performance, cultural display, presentation of awards to the Managing Director and other awards, recognition of outstanding members of staff and raffle draws
