BREAKING: Lagos Assembly Passes Bill To Combat Spread of COVID-19.

Members of the Lagos State assembly in less than six hours have passed a bill to strengthen the state government’s effort to contain the spread of Coronavirus.

The bill, which has 25 sections and titled, “Bill for a Law to Combat and Stop the Spread of Corona Virus Pandemic in Lagos State, also granted the state governor, the approval to spend twenty billion naira to kick start enforcement.

The lawmakers, before embarking on a two-hour recess, had taken the first and second readings of the bill, and subsequently committed it to the Committee on Health Services of the House for further work.

Correspondent Akinboye Akintola reports that the speaker, Chief Mudashiru Obasa, after conducting a voice vote in favor of all the sections in the proposed legislation, directed the Clerk of the House, Mr. Azeez Sanni to send a clean copy to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his assent.
