FG Develops Web-based Price Checker

A web-based price checker for non-customized goods has been developed to enhance transparency in procurement processes in the country.
The Head, Regulation and Database Department, Bureau of Public Procurement, Mr. Aliyu Aliyu made this known at a sensitization programme on Price Checker in Abuja.
The programmme which was organized by the Ministry of Finance and Bureau of Public Procurement had taken place in the six geopolitical zones with a special outing in Lagos and the concluding part in Abuja.
The programme was to sensitize Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs on the use of the web-based price checker for efficient services.
The Head, Regulation and Database Department, Bureau of Public Procurement, Mr. Aliyu Aliyu who explained that government at all levels had the challenge of paucity of funds, said the initiative would block wastages in government spending.
Mr. Aliyu said the price checker portal would enable vendors of non-customized goods to upload the prices for easy access of MDAs.
He urged vendors and MDAs to make adequate use of the portal to improve their efficiency.
Also, the Head, Efficiency Unit, Ministry of Finance, Mr. Ojonimi Imaji said the portal would enhance the process of budgeting and auditing as well as reduce time for market survey.
Mr. Imaji who said the Portal was foolproof, urged MDAs and vendors to utilize it as it was free.
The programme which featured a demonstration of the price checker portal had in attendance representatives from MDAs and vendors.
