Funke Treasure flags off sanitary pad scholarship Initiative in Lagos

The hike in price of sanitary pads has become worrisome to concerned Stakeholders especially as a compulsory need for the girl child irrespective of her parent financial status.
To this effect, as part of its Social responsibility, a Non Governmental organization, Illuminate Nigeria Development Network, distributed over one thousand sanitary pads to female students in Lagos to mark the international day of the girl child.
At the flag off of the sanitary pad scholarship Initiative held at the National Museum in Onikan, the Team led, Ms Anike-Ade Funke-Treasure, said the gesture was to encourage girls not to indulge in frivolous activities in search of money to purchase sanitary pads during their menstrual cycle.
Ms Funke-Treasure noted that the Sanitary pad Media Campaign would supply over one thousand girls sanitary pads for one year through funding by donors.
She urged the beneficiaries to maintain the highest level of hygiene during their menstruation period and desist from any act which could jeopardize their future.
Some of the beneficiaries appreciated the Initiative which they noted would reduce period poverty among those in rural areas.
The highpoint of the event was the distribution of a sanitary box which consists of liquid soap, sanitizer and pad to every girls on ground while their pictures and that of women who had succeeded in their various careers would be displayed at the National Museum for the next six months.
