IG warns against providing false information to police

Meanwhile, The Inspector General of Police, Mr Usman Alkali-Baba has cautioned the public, against spreading false alarms, misinformation, and disinformation as such news were counter-productive to national security.

The IGP gave the caution during the Force Management Team’s meeting in Abuja, to review security updates across the nation.

He assured residents of their safety and security, while urging them to go about their lawful duties without fear of attacks.

In a bid to allay the fears of residents in the Federal Capital Territory, concerning the recent perceived security threats, the IGP ordered massive deployment of additional police operatives and operational assets within the metropolis and its environs.

He also charged the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Department of Operations, DIG Bala Zama-Senchi, to supervise the deployment, to ensure maximum security in the Abuja and surrounding states.
