LAGOS GOVERNMENT PARTNERS IKEDC AND SAHARA POWER TO GET UNINTERRUPTED POWER SUPPLY FOR RESIDENTS.

The Lagos State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MOU, with an Electricity Distribution company and a foreign investor to improve power supply at the grassroots.
At the short ceremony at Alausa, Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr Olalere Odusote, said the pilot scheme will commence in Alimosho area of the state with distribution of twenty thousand prepaid meters to communities with low income earners.
Mr Odusote noted that though the scheme would improve power supply, appealed to residents to manage their energy consumption.
In a response, the Managing Director of Ikeja Electrity Distribution Company, Mrs Folake Soetan expressed the Disco’s willingness to partner the Lagos State government in ensuring uninterrupted power supply to residents.
The Pilot scheme is expected to commence immediately after the signing of the agreement to boost power supply from between eight and twelve hours to twenty-two hours daily in Alimosho which was identified for the pilot scheme.
