Nigerian Enjoined To Support Governments Effort On Asset Recovery

Millions of Nigerians who suffer denial of social amenities such as affordable housing, hospitals, roads, schools, water will receive succour when stolen assets are recovered from looters and properly utilized.

The Chairman of Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC, Professor Bolaji Owasanoye made the assertion at the 2019 celebration of African Union, AU Anti- Corruption Day, tagged ‘Opportunity Cost of Corruption and the Value Assets Recovery, held in ikoyi, Lagos.

He also enjoined Nigerians to support government effort towards asset recovery for national development and to communicate information of suspected cases of stolen assets to the commission .

Contributing, the guest lecturer at the event, Mr. Adesina Tosin who discussed on the need to follow the money by tracking implementation of constituency projects, appealed to Nigerians to desist from the act of collecting goodies from politicians rather than holding them accountable for their constituency projects.

In a remark, the Lagos State coordinator, Anti Corruption Volunteer Corps, Professor Bola Akinterinwa commended the Nigerian government in its bid to put an end to corruption in the country.

Correspondent Tope Ajayi quotes Professor Akinterinwa as enjoining Nigerians to have faith and believe in the fight against corruption, as it can only be achieved through collective efforts.
