PRODUCTIVE ENTREPRENEURSHIP IS PANACEA TO UNEMPLOYMENT, POVERTY – HON ADEBANJO, ALIMOSHO FEDERAL REP.

Nigerian youths have again been advised to embrace self-employment through productive entrepreneurial skills.

The member representing Alimosho Federal Constituency of Lagos State at the House of Representatives, Mr Olufemi Adebanjo gave the advice at the second round of Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Programme he facilitated in collaboration with the Ogun Osun River Basin Development Authority, for sixty-five youths and women of the Constituency, held in Igando.

Mr Adebanjo who was represented by one of his aides, Mr. Kola Iyanda noted that the scheme was a furtherance of his electoral promise to alleviate poverty, boost job creation and ensure continuous human capacity development in the society.

The federal lawmaker explained that besides the vocational training, the beneficiaries would each receive grants between fifty and one hundred thousand naira to start their businesses, in addition to grinding machines, soap making materials, sowing and shoemaking machines.

On his part, the Managing Director Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority,
Mr Olufemi Odumosu represented by the Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Mr. Dayo Babaranti stated that the empowerment programme would enhance economic growth.

He urged the beneficiaries to utilize the knowledge and machinery to better themselves as well as contribute to job creation and reduction of unemployment.

Some of the participants expressed their happiness to the federal legislator, Mr Adebanjo for facilitating such a programme and promised to make the best use of everything acquired from the training.

Twenty -five of the beneficiaries were trained in Soapmaking, twenty were trained in Shoemaking, and the remaining twenty were trained in Pepper Milling.
