Ten Finalists Emerge for Lagos State Eko Flavours Culinary Competition, Winner to Clinch Five Million Naira, Ambassadorship Role

Ten finalists have emerged for the Grand finale of the Lagos food cooking competition tagged, “Eko Flavours”, slated for tomorrow.

They are Badejo Oreoluwakitan (chefkitts), Afolabi Abisola (rukybcooks),Isaiah Oyede (Isaiah_chef),Adesanya Abimbola, Chiwendu (breezy_kitchen).

Others are AkinniWre Oluwadamilare Ezekel (Chefdrey),Akorede Enitan Olamide (enny_tan_), Sanusi O. Kaothar (kaotharr_), Omobonike Awosanmi (aveonkitchen), Ibidunni Layade (Ibidunnice), Obodiahi Blessing (beesandbaVer).

Eko Flavours Project, a culinary platform for food vendors and chefs to showcase their talents in making delightful meals at a budget, commenced with one hundred and fifty participants, out of which fifty were selected for the competition, which began last month.

Speaking after the emergence of the ten finalists at the Lagos Food Hub in Idi Oro, Mushin, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Ms Abisola Olusanya, commended the participants for their creativity and innovative ideas in bringing their culinary skills to the fore.

Ms Olusanya noted that the Eko Flavours competition is in line with the Governor Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES PLUS agenda to empower the creative youths to showcase Lagos projects to the global map.

“The competition is not about I am the best chef but the smartest chef with unimaginable creativity, the project has been able to engage the youth and empower them to develop their skills and show proof of innovations to the judges and upscale their talents in line with Governor Sanwo-olu THEMES PLUS agenda of a transformative Lagos.”

One of the judges, who is a certified Chef, Mr Adeyinka Arije and a partner with the State government on the Eko Flavours project, Mrs Jennifer Odufuwa, commended the participants, for their tenacity, and encouraged them to use the knowledge gained from the competition to be self reliant.

“It is so amazing seeing young people between the ages of twenty one and twenty five exploring the space of culinary, their creativity is amazing like seeing pasta with Egusi, mango pulp, Ayamatse sauce, these are creativity which should be applauded.”

We thank Governor Sanwo-olu for supporting the Eko Flavours to showcase Lagos to the world using food competition as Tourism potential to drive the economy of the state.”

The winner of the competition tomorrow, will be crowned Eko Flavours Champion Ambassador for one year with five million naira cash reward, while the second position goes home with three million naira and the third wins one million naira.
