Well-meaning Nigerians and corporate organizations have again been urged to extend their hands of support and generosity to the less privileged in the society to enable them to cope with the economic challenges in the country.
The Pastor in Charge of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG Lagos Province 8, who doubles as the Assistant Pastor in Charge of RCCG Region 2, Pastor Bode Odesola made the plea at a Corporate Social Responsibility programme organized by the church to reach out to the less privileged in Layi Otegbade Community, Palmgroove Lagos.
Speaking at the programme, Pastor Odesola said that the programme was organized in line with the vision of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye who mandated all Parishes under the mission to always lend out their hands of generosity to their parishioners and those in need in their localities.
He explained that the items could be food and other valuable items as well as cash gifts meant to support individuals in starting small scale businesses.
Pastor Odesola said that the CSR programme being held at the Lagos Province 8 headquarters this time around was to give out clothes, shoes, electronic home appliances and food items among other household needs to the people, while monetary gifts would be given to some beneficiaries that wished to start small scale businesses.
The Chairman of the welfare committee in charge of the CSR programme, tagged “Jesus Table and Empowerment,” Mr. Tunde Oladipo said although the parish usually hold CSR programme every month, the Jesus Table and Empowerment programme is a yearly programme.
He explained that the church usually spend not less than Five million naira on the programme every year.
Mr. Oladipo stressed that the programme had brought smiles to the faces of the less privileged over the years.
Some of the beneficiaries of the church’s kind gesture expressed gratitude to the organizers of the programme.
The highlight of the programme was a raffle draw which enabled some of the participants to go home with tangible gifts and cash prizes.
