Senator Obanikoro Hails Awori Community Endorsement of Tinubu, Hamzat, Pledges Support for Progressive Governance

Director-General of the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat (KOH) Governorship Campaign Organisation, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, has commended the Awori community in Lagos and Ogun states, for endorsing the governorship ambition of Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, and President Bola Tinubu, describing the move as a strong vote of confidence in his leadership and vision for the state and Nigeria at large.

Senator Obanikoro gave the commendation while receiving a delegation of Awori community, led by Alhaji Semiu Yusuf, during a courtesy visit to the KOH Campaign Organisation in Lagos.

He said the support from the Awori people reflected unity of purpose and would further energise the campaign ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Expressing appreciation for the visit, Senator Obanikoro stressed the importance of fostering unity among the Awori people and the wider Yoruba race noting that solidarity among ethnic groups was essential for sustainable development and greater political achievements.

According to the former Minister of State for Defence his source remains his pride and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the interests of the Awori people and Lagos State.

Senator Obanikoro described President Bola Tinubu and Dr. Hamzat as experienced public servants with proven records in governance, administration and public service.

He said Hamzat’s background as a commissioner, deputy governor, academic and international professional makes him well-equipped to consolidate the developmental strides recorded in Lagos.

Earlier, the leader of the Awori Community, Alhaji Semiu Yusuf said the organisation was committed to uniting Awori sons and daughters across Lagos State, Ogun State and the diaspora to promote peace, development and inclusive governance.

He pledged the group’s support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election and its commitment to working for the emergence of progressive governments in Lagos and Ogun states.

Alhaji Yusuf said the organisation would intensify grassroots mobilisation by encouraging voter registration, Permanent Voter Card collection and active participation in peaceful and credible elections.

He added that the group would also promote civic awareness through advocacy campaigns, town hall meetings, media engagement and community sensitisation while encouraging greater participation of youths and women in politics and leadership.

Alhaji Yusuf advocated policies that promote peace, education, healthcare, security, infrastructure, agriculture, industrialisation and economic prosperity, while describing the organisation as a platform dedicated to advancing the collective aspirations of the Awori people under its motto, “One Choice, One People, One Nation.”

Giving vote of thanks, One of the KOH campaign stronghold, Mr. Ademola Popoola, thanked the Awori people for supporting the KOH Campaign Organisation, saying the visit would strengthened the partnership between both groups and reaffirmed their shared commitment to Dr. Hamzat’s governorship aspiration and progressive leadership in Lagos State.
