Couple-Led Cocaine Syndicate Busted in Lagos, Major Drug Seizure by NDLEA

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have dismantled a high-profile cocaine syndicate in Lagos. 

The syndicate was led by a couple, Agbakoba John Mmadu and Agbakoba Ijeoma Chinwe, along with their associate, Okoye Ifeoma Maryjane. 

NDLEA spokesman, Mr. Femi Babafemi in a statement says, the operation resulted in the recovery of significant quantities of cocaine intended for both export and local distribution.

According to him, the special operations unit of the NDLEA conducted the raid following months of intelligence gathering and surveillance, adding that, the syndicate was notorious for its role in the packaging, distribution, and trafficking of cocaine within and outside Nigeria.

He said, the suspect, the 54-year-old Agbakoba John Mmadu was arrested at Ago Palace Way, Okota while his 39-year-old wife, Agbakoba Ijeoma Chinwe, and their 31-year-old associate, Okoye Ifeoma Maryjane, who also served as their stash keeper, were apprehended at Plot 2205 Eugene Ndubisi Close, Lilly Estate, Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos.

The raid led to the recovery of seven parcels of cocaine weighing 7.652 kilograms from Mmadu at Ago Palace Way and 122 compressed pellets of cocaine weighing 2.42 kilograms were seized from Ijeoma and Ifeoma at Lilly Estate. 

In total, 10.1 kilograms of cocaine valued at over N2.1 billion in street value were confiscated.
