FAAN MD Urges Women in Logistics to Key into Air Cargo of Agricultural Produce

The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, has called on Women in Logistics and Transport (WILAT) to take advantage of the air cargo of agricultural produce to empower themselves and contribute to the growth of the country’s economy.

Mrs Kuku made the call during a courtesy visit by a team from WILAT to her office in Lagos over the weekend. 

She emphasized that FAAN is committed to providing necessary infrastructure, including temperature-controlled systems and testing centers, at all airports in the country to support the growth of air cargo.

According to Mrs. Kuku, the aim is to empower women to play a critical role in the end-to-end value system of logistics and transport, and to encourage them to look for ways to collaborate with relevant stakeholders. 

She pledged FAAN’s support and collaboration with WILAT to achieve this goal.

In her remarks, Mrs. Folake Soji-George, the Global Vice Chairperson of WILAT, thanked Kuku for her support and pledged to continue working with FAAN to achieve its goals. 

She listed WILAT efforts in mentoring students from the Faculty of Transport and Logistics, Lagos State University and contributions to the society.

The Chairperson of WILAT Nigeria, Mrs. Khadijat Seidu-Shabi, also congratulated Mrs. Kuku on her appointment and announced that WILAT would be decorating her with a role model award to encourage younger women in the logistics and transport ecosystem.

The public Relations officer of WiLAT and Aviation Mode Representative in the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, CILT, Mrs. Queen Ajayi who was elated about the partnership and collaboration with FAAN, assured, the body will sustain this, adding that, they are happy to have a woman at the helms of affairs in the agency.

Highlight of the visit was the presentation to the FAAN MD with a congratulatory letter, card, and badge.
