FIFA Appoints VAR for Nigeria/Ghana World Cup Playoffs

To ensure a very fair officiating in the Nigeria/Ghana World Cup Playoff, the world football governing body FIFA has appointed Video Assistant Referees VAR for both clashes.

Bernie Raymond Blom from the Netherlands will oversee the first leg tie scheduled for 25 March 2022 in Cape Coast.He will be assisted by compatriot Rob Dieperink, while Athanse Nkubito from Rwanda will be the referee assessor.

For the return leg in Abuja, scheduled for 29 March, FIFA has commissioned Frenchmen Jérôme Brisard and Willy Louis Delajod to take charge of the VAR.

The winner over two legs between Nigeria and Ghana will join four other African representatives to fly the continent’s flag in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar this year.
