PSN To Establish Post-Graduate College

The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, PSN is to establish the National Post-Graduate College of Pharmacists to complement the consultancy cadre agenda and work with the National Agency for Food and Administration and Control, NAFDAC and other relevant agencies to achieve the desired results in the next few months.

It will also improve visibility of Pharmacists through one-on-one interaction with clients at pharmacies across the country for better results.

President of the Society, Professor Cyril Usifo gave the assurance in a chat with newsmen in Lagos.

Professor Usifo noted that herbal medicine which is the cure competence of pharmacies would be pursued vigorously, stating that what is not true will be removed and present what is true.

” There’s one student that worked on somebody’s product, we went to a herbalist and asked him some questions, he told us a few things about his job.

“He said a woman was threatened with abortion and she took some of his products prepared locally and the woman delivered safely “.

“He explained that the solution to the threatened abortion is a boiled egg that would be taken by the woman once she eats, her child will come out whole, unbroken”.

Professor Usifo admonished members of the public to always engage their Pharmacists on the drugs they are to take to avoid negative food-drug interactions.

“If you come to the pharmacy to buy drugs, you may not need drugs, it may just be the problem that you haven’t eaten properly. You might take a drug and it will be interacting with other drugs and if you take away one, the outcome of that particular drug will manifest because some drugs needs to be taken with food, empty stomach or after food”

He noted that Nigerians don’t ask questions as they are too much in a hurry.

He also urged members of the public to ask for the pharmacist whose duty it is to explain in details about ethical drugs or over-the-counter drugs.
