Renovation Nears Completion at National Stadium in Lagos

The main bowl of the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos will soon come alive with sporting activities after years of neglect.

The Honorable Minister of Youth and Sports Development Dr Sunday Dare who is championing the rehabilitation of the once abandoned national edifice, stated this while addressing the media in Lagos after a scheduled inspection of the ongoing renovation of the Stadium.

According to Dare, the stadium would be functional, before the tenure of this administration, elapses, on May 29th.

Hon. Dare said the engineer overseeing the renovation of the stadium, built in the early 1970s, has assured him that every stone possible, is being upturned. with a view to ensuring that the project is completed, on schedule.

Work has now shifted to the laying of brand new tracks, digital score board and the finishing of the playing surface of the Main bowl and practice pitches.

The ongoing renovation is in line with the adopt a facility concept of the minister, which has yielded results at revamped facilities like MKO Abiola National Stadium Abuja and Daura Mini- Stadium.
