L-R: Prof. Solomon Olorundare, member, Nigeria National Committee of WAEC, Secretary to the Oyo State Governmernt, Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun, HNO WAEC Nigeria, Mr. Patrick Areghan and Commissioner for Education, Oyo State, Barrister Rahman Abdul Raheem while WAEC delegates paid courtesy visit to the office of Oyo State Governmernt, in Ibadan.

The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has corrected the wrong notion held in some quarters that the examination body purposely fails candidates so that the candidates can register for the examination the following year.

The Head of National office of WAEC in Nigeria, Mr. Patrick Areghan made the correction in Ibadan when he led a delegate of the Council on a courtesy visit to the office of the Governor of Oyo State, as part of the council’s 59th National Committee Meeting in Ibadan, Oyo State.

He explained that WAEC would never fail any candidate that had done well in it’s examinations for selfish reasons.

He stressed that WAEC being a leading examining body in West Africa, would only issue its certificate to candidates that passed its examination and not to those that performed woefully.

Mr. Areghan however, gave the assurance that his council would continue to provide quality services to the nation without compromise.

The Secretary to the Oyo State Governmernt, Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun who received the WAEC delegates on behalf of the Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde appreciates the West African Examinations Council for choosing Oyo State for its sixty-ninth National Committee Meeting.

She urged the examination body to continue to maintain excellence in the conduct of its examinations.

Mrs Adeosun however, gave the assurance that the Oyo State Governmernt would continue to invest in the education sector to get more out of school children in the state back to the classroom.
