FMA removes FAAN, NAMA Managing Directors, others

The Ministry of Aviation has removed Mr. Mathew Pwajok as the Acting Managing Director, Nigeria Airspace Management Agency, NAMA.

He has been replaced immediately with Mr. Tayib Odunowo, Director, Airspace and Aerodrome Standards in the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA.

This is coming on the heels of the removal of the Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Captain Rabiu Yadudu and replaced by the Regional Manager, Northern Airports Mr. Kabiru Mohammed.

Also some Directors in FAAN have been removed and redeployed to other Aviation agencies.

However, Aviation experts under the aegis of Aviation Safety Roundtable Iniative, ART, has described the last minute reshuffle as unwarranted in the twilight of the Buhari administration.

The Assistant Secretary General, ART, Mr. Olu Ohunayo stressed that, any decision of the Minister to appoint a new Director General, Managing Directors or Directors with barely ten days to the eve of the new administration, forecloses the opportunity for new presidential appointees that will be more suited to the agenda of the incoming administration.

According to him, the body is of the view that a more appropriate action would have been to nominate a new candidate for appointment by the incoming Minister and there is nothing wrong in extending for a further 30 days, the term of the existing Managing Director and Directors on a transitional basis, to enable the new administration pick the men/ woman to driver their agenda.

The body hope that the incoming President will attend to these challenges expeditiously.
