As Christians observe Passion Week — the sacred period leading up to Easter — believers have been urged to embody the core values of love and forgiveness in their daily lives.
This call was made by Reverend William Swanzy during an appearance on Dateline Lagos, a Radio One news magazine programme, where he reflected on the significance of the Holy Week.
Reverend Swanzy emphasised that Christians should cultivate a habit of reading and meditating on the Bible, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide their actions and decisions.
He noted that through sincere meditation on the Word of God and reliance on the Holy Spirit, believers would find it easier to practise love and extend forgiveness — values at the heart of the Christian faith.
“Everyone makes mistakes,” the clergyman said, “and holding on to the offences of others hinders the peace and grace God intends for us.”
Reverend Swanzy reminded listeners of the essence of Easter — the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus Christ — describing it as the ultimate demonstration of God’s love and forgiveness, given so that humanity might be reconciled to Him.
