Lagos Cooperative College Holds 2nd Convocation Lecture, Advocates Specialized Cooperative Society, Encourages Students to Embrace Digital Marketing Technology

The role of Cooperative society in the economic growth of Nano businesses cannot be over-emphasized, hence the need for business owners to embrace digital marketing technology for more visibility.

A Cooperative and Business Development Consultant, Dr Olusegun Dada, stated this at the second Convocation lecture of the Lagos State Cooperative College, LASCOCO, held at Agege.

Dr Dada who was the Guest Speaker at the lecture titled Co-operative Management: The Development and Transformation of Nano Enterprise in Lagos State, said over fifty million Nano businesses are in Lagos due to multiple ownership by single individuals that contribute to the State economic growth.

He identified limited finance, poor business skills, economic vulnerability and market access difficulties as the challenges confront Nano businesses with a call on graduating students to embrace digital marketing and embrace specialized cooperative society to thrive.

Earlier, LASCOCO Provost, Mr Akorede Ojomu said the weeklong convocation program will climax on Wednesday with Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu unveiling the new academic ICT compliance building for students to compete with their global counterparts in technological skills.

“The delivery of this lecture today, speaks volume of your passion and commitment for knowledge sharing towards our socio-economic development as a nation”

“I am of the conviction that our audience comprising members of the Organized Private Sector, Cooperative Movement, academic community, student bodies and Civil Service, stand to gain a lot from this lecture on account of your level of expertise and wealth of experience in the topic of discussion.”

Chairman of the College Governing Board, Mr Raji Oyebowale, encouraged the one hundred and fifty three graduating students to be creative in the labour market to turn obstacles into opportunities.

“We are particularly excited by our growing collaboration with the Cooperative University of Kenya and our engagement in the design of the 2025–2029 Strategic Plan, which aims to deepen LASCOCO’s impact in areas such as digital cooperative education, policy advocacy, and enterprise incubation — especially for nano and micro-enterprises under the LASMECO scheme.”

The Convocation ceremony takes place on Wednesday.
