Police Secure Release of Two Kidnap Victims in Ikorodu

Two residents abducted from the Ijede Creek area of Ikorodu have been rescued unhurt following a swift and coordinated operation led by the Lagos State Police Command.

The victims were reportedly kidnapped from their homes inside the creek settlement two days ago. Police say they received a distress call around 10:00 p.m., alerting them to gunfire in the Igbe Creek area.

Responding immediately, the Ijede Police Division mobilized over fifteen tactical teams—including detectives, intervention squads, and conventional officers—supported by local vigilantes, hunters, and concerned residents. The rescue effort was launched under the direct orders of the Commissioner of Police, CP Owohunwa Jimoh.

According to Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the teams strategically sealed off access points to the surrounding creek and forest, intensifying pressure on the kidnappers. The sustained operation led to the safe release of the victims at about 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 25.

Both victims have since been reunited with their families. While the identities of the kidnappers remain unknown, security operatives are continuing with aggressive patrols and searches through the terrain to locate and apprehend those responsible.

Hundeyin praised the professionalism of the officers and the invaluable support of local vigilantes and hunters. He acknowledged the challenging terrain, describing the operation as one requiring courage and determination due to the difficult and unsafe geography of the area.

The Command also issued a security advisory to residents living in creek and forest settlements, urging heightened vigilance and encouraging prompt reporting of suspicious activities to local police or via emergency lines: 08063299264 and 08065154338.

The Lagos Police reaffirmed their commitment to the safety of all residents, particularly in remote and vulnerable communities.
