The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has announced the commencement of a planned maintenance shutdown of the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC), aimed at ensuring the facility’s operational sustainability.
According to a statement released by Olufemi O. Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd, the maintenance exercise began on May 24, 2025, and includes a comprehensive sustainability assessment of the refinery.
The company assured the public that it is working in close collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), to carry out the process efficiently and transparently
“This planned maintenance is a necessary step in our commitment to delivering sustainable energy security for Nigeria,” the statement read.
NNPC Ltd also emphasized that regular updates will be provided through its official website, media platforms, and public statements as the maintenance progresses.
The Port Harcourt refinery is one of Nigeria’s key oil refining facilities and plays a significant role in the country’s energy supply chain.
