₦1Trillion Worth of Fake Drugs Seized in Joint NAFDAC, Military Raid in South-East

In a joint operation, troops of Operation UDO KA and NAFDAC have seized fake and substandard medicines worth over ₦1 trillion across key drug markets in the South-East and other regions of Nigeria.

NAFDAC’s South-East Director, Dr. Iluyomade Martins, disclosed that over 100 trailers loaded with counterfeit pharmaceuticals were intercepted during the month-long operation.

The task force uncovered dangerous narcotics and other unwholesome drugs hidden in commercial consignments, posing a major threat to public health and national security.

Dr. Martins praised the collaboration between the military and NAFDAC, particularly Sector 302 under 82 Division, which led the operation with tactical precision.

Authorities believe the seized drugs were funding criminal and terrorist networks. Several arrests have been made, and prosecutions are expected.

The operation forms part of a broader effort to eliminate counterfeit drugs, curb addiction, and improve safety across Nigerian markets.
