The Coalition of South-South Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (COSSCCIMA) has expressed its gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to international best practices in the aviation sector and youth empowerment.
In a letter to the President, COSSCCIMA, Mr. Indutimi Komonibo lauded the recent decision to restore consultancy services for the collection of helicopter landing levies for air navigation services by NAEBI Dynamic Concept Limited.
The umbrella body of South-South Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture praised President Tinubu’s steadfast commitment to ensuring sustainable funding of critical aviation infrastructure, youth empowerment, economic development, and business stability in the Niger Delta region.
The letter, signed by COSSCCIMA President, Mr. Indutimi Komonibo, and Chairman Board of Trustees, Dr. Billy Sillis-Harry, stressed the significance of consultancy services in creating employment opportunities for local youths and mitigating youth restiveness.
COSSCCIMA noted that the decision to restore consultancy services aligns with International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) regulations and is a standard practice across the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Asia.
The organization emphasized that the consultancy plays a vital role in increasing revenue generation for sustainable funding of critical aviation infrastructure, improving air traffic management, and regulatory oversight.
The letter also urged the Federal Government to ensure industry-wide compliance with the prescribed landing fee obligations, as many oil companies have yet to comply with the regulations.
COSSCCIMA expressed its commitment to collaborating with the government to drive economic growth, strengthen regulatory efficiency, and foster lasting peace in the Niger Delta.
The organization’s endorsement of President Tinubu’s vision and aspirations was evident, as they stated that business leaders and youths of the Niger Delta proudly stand in support of the government.
COSSCCIMA warned against detractors and groups operating outside the legal frameworks, who seek to obstruct progress and promote instability, and instead urged the government to focus on driving economic prosperity and growth in the region.
