The Lagos chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has ushered in a new era of leadership following its Congress, election, and inauguration ceremony held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the NUJ Secretariat, Iyalla, Ikeja.
Outgoing Chairperson, Dr. Mrs. Adeola Ekein, expressed gratitude to members for their support during her tenure before officially dissolving the assembly to allow the electoral committee to take over proceedings.
QLed by Mrs. Tosin Odusola, the committee introduced the newly elected executives:
Olajumoke Johnson (Voice of Nigeria) – Chairperson
Anu M. Thomas (Lagos Information) – Secretary
QOmolola Olamijulo (FRCN) – Treasurer
Adaramoye Abiola (Radio Lagos/Eko FM) – Financial Secretary
After the announcement, the National Vice President, South West (B-Zone), Comrade Adeola Adekunle, dissolved the committee and conducted the swearing-in of the new officers.
She also directed the new leadership to conduct by-elections within 90 days to fill vacant positions of Vice Chairperson, Assistant Secretary, and Auditor.
In her inaugural address, the newly elected Chairperson, Olajumoke Johnson, promised to build on the foundation laid by her predecessor.

The event was attended by executives of the Lagos NUJ, including Vice Chairman Comrade Philip Nwosu (representing the chairman), past NAWOJ leaders, friends, and family members, who all gathered to celebrate the new leadership.
