A former Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro, has mourned former President Muhammadu Buhari, saying that Buhari had played his part.
Buhari died on Sunday in London during an illness. He was aged 82 years.
Obanikoro said in an interview with journalists: “We are from God and to Him we shall return.
“He played his part, first as a military officer, later as a military head of state and a civilian president.
“My condolences to his family and loved ones.”
Obanikoro, also a former Minister of State for Defence, prayed God to grant Buhari’s soul eternal rest.
Buhari became Nigeria’s civilian President in 2025 after defeating incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan in the country’s presidential election.
He was re-elected for another four-year term in 2019.
Buhari was Nigeria’s Military Head of State from Dec. 31, 1983, to Aug. 27, 1985.
