Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening local governance and grassroots development as he commissioned major infrastructure and social projects in Agboyi-Ketu and Bariga Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
Speaking at the dual commissioning ceremonies on Friday, Governor Sanwo-Olu praised the performance of the outgoing council chairmen and highlighted the successes as a direct benefit of the full autonomy local governments enjoy in Lagos State.
“These achievements we are witnessing today across our LCDAs are the dividends of true autonomy, a principle we have fully embraced in Lagos under the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the Governor said.
Agboyi-Ketu: Infrastructure for Progress
At the commissioning ceremony in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Governor Sanwo-Olu inaugurated a series of impactful projects facilitated under the leadership of the outgoing chairman, Mayor Dele Oshinowo. These include:
• Otunba Bushura Alebiosu Multipurpose Building
• Agboyi Community Primary School
• Agboyi-Ketu ICT Hub
• HRM Oba Taiwo Adesegun Lamina Sport Centre
• 4.45 kilometers of newly constructed roads

In his goodwill message, Sanwo-Olu commended the people of Agboyi-Ketu for their civic engagement and praised the outgoing chairman for his dedication to inclusive growth.
“Every kobo invested in these projects is an investment in your future,” he stated.
“The ICT hub will equip our youth with digital skills, while the roads will boost commerce and connectivity. These are projects that touch lives directly.”
The Governor also charged the incoming Chairman, Mrs. Adetola Abubakar, to sustain the pace and exceed the legacy of her predecessor. He called on residents to give her the same level of support that enabled Mayor Oshinowo to succeed.
In his remarks, Mr. Oshinowo described the projects as his parting gifts to the community after eight years of service and expressed confidence in his successor’s ability to carry the torch forward.
Bariga: A Model for Grassroots Development
In Bariga LCDA, Sanwo-Olu also commissioned a broad range of community-enhancing facilities, including:
• 2 newly built primary schools
• 14 networks of completed roads (out of 21 earmarked)
• 4 Primary Health Centers, one featuring an ultra-modern digital clinic
• A fully equipped Fire Station
• A Legislative Building for the council’s lawmakers

Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the leadership of Hon. Kolade Alabi, noting his dual role as Bariga Chairman and former ALGON National President, which he said allowed him to blend local impact with national advocacy.
“These projects are your right, and it is our duty as a responsible government to serve you,” the governor said, adding that Bariga has become a template for grassroots development.
He urged the incoming administration to complete the remaining 7 roads and maintain momentum. As part of the day’s events, Mr. Alabi also renamed Community Road to Babajide Sanwo-Olu Road in honor of the governor’s support.
The twin events were graced by top government officials, including members of the Lagos State Executive Council, APC State Chairman in Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, members of the Governance Advisory Council, Lagos Assembly lawmakers, and APC supporters.
