The Nigerian Association of Tour Operators (NATOP) and tourism stakeholders in the Republic of Benin have embarked on a groundbreaking partnership to strengthen cross-border collaboration and promote intra-African travel.
This initiative aims to reduce dependence on overseas vacation destinations and showcase the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of West Africa.
The partnership is marked by a two-day tour of Benin by NATOP members, which highlights the association’s renewed commitment to cross-border partnerships.
The tour which is organised by NATOP and Consortium Tourism by Millions of Benin (CTMB) in collaboration with Azalai Hotel and Benin Royal Hotel was designed for tour operators to experience and develop tour packages that cater for African travelers, particularly during the summer holiday season while encouraging foreigners to as well explore West African Tourist destinations.
According to NATOP President, Alhaja. Bolaji Mustapha the essence is for the tour operators to get familiar with the destinations they market to their clients as this would enhance their knowledge of the destination.
“The essence of farm trips is to know well about the products you want to sell, not just selling on the phone.
You need to experience what you want to give to others.”
This approach will enable Nigerian tour operators to gain a deeper understanding of Benin’s tourist destinations and develop packaging strategies that showcase the best of West Africa.”
Alhaja Mustapha who expressed satisfaction on how NATOP members were warmly received with a dinner and cocktail which gave about forty tour operators from Nigeria and Benin Republic to interact and network said there is no better time to partner than now.

So having Nigerian and Benin tourism stakeholders have this kind of meeting is really that top notch for this that we’ve been craving for.we’re going to now have this Tourism Actors Network real-time.” she noted.
