Red Cross Decorates PS LASEMA as Platinum Member, Life Patron

The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency and Management Agency, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, has been decorated as a Red Cross Humanitarian Ambassador, in appreciation of his efforts at managing emergencies and disaster in the state.

Dr Oke-Osanyintolu was decorated with a full Red Cross regalia by the Branch Chairman of Red Cross in Lagos, Dr Victoria Kolawole, at the LASEMA resettlement camp in Igando, and also presented with a patronship certificate as a platinum member for his international humanitarian service.

The Permanent Secretary who appreciated the honour dedicated it to Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu for his political will and provision of heavy duty equipment to combat emergencies and disasters in Lagos.

While reiterating the Sanwo-olu administration’s commitment to reducing golden hours during emergencies and sustaining the tempo, Dr Oke-Osanyintolu hinted that plan is underway to establish an Institute of Disaster Management in Igando.

On her part, the Red Cross Branch Chairman in Lagos, Dr Victoria Kolawole, commended the Lagos State government for standing out and partnering the organization over the years, in first aid services and commitment for a better Lagos.

Dr Kolawole also thanked LASEMA for allowing over five hundred youths use the LASEMA resettlement camp for Red Cross Boot camp during the holiday in celebration of the Diamond anniversary of the international organization.

“I can testify that LASEMA PS Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu has done very well in disaster management both at the state and national level, we are proud of his achievements and this honour is long overdue.”

PS LASEMA hinted that the State Emergency Agency, SEMAs, across the thirty six states will converge on Lagos on October to celebrate International Day for Disaster Risk reduction with the theme Every day counts, act for resilience.
