The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, has issued a public advisory urging Nigerian travellers to the United States to strictly adhere to the terms of their entry visas and U.S. immigration protocols.
This follows concerns raised by the United States government over instances of visa misuse by Nigerian nationals.
In a statement by the National Public Relations Officer of Customs, Dr Abdullahi Maiwada, the NCS emphasized that U.S. authorities conduct ongoing security monitoring of visa holders, and violations, such as breaching the stated purpose of travel or import/export laws, could result in visa revocation.
The Customs Service also reminded travellers to declare cash exceeding ten thousand dollars or its equivalent at exit or entry points, warning against carrying prohibited items.
According to the statement, the NCS is collaborating with the U.S. Mission in Abuja to ensure that Nigeria is not subjected to an expanded visa ban that may affect law-abiding citizens with genuine travel intentions.
