FRCN Lagos Appoints New General Managers for Radio One, Metro FM

The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Lagos Operations, has announced a major leadership restructuring with the appointment and redeployment of senior management staff at Radio One 103.5 FM and Metro 97.7 FM.

The changes, approved by the Director General, Dr. Mohammed Bulama, take immediate effect.

Announcing the new appointments, Director of Lagos Operations, Mrs. Bolanle Owoyemi, urged the incoming General Managers to bring innovation, commitment, and excellence to their new roles.

She also encouraged other staff members affected by the reshuffle to embrace their new assignments with a drive to add value.

Mrs. Owoyemi expressed gratitude to the outgoing General Managers, Mr. Korede Ogunbunmi and Mrs. Ifeoma Okpala, acknowledging their notable contributions to the growth of the stations during their tenure.

“I am optimistic that you will build on the successes of your predecessors and take the stations to greater heights,” she said, while offering prayers for the newly appointed officials.

“At His time, God will make everything possible.”

The reshuffle is part of ongoing efforts by the corporation to strengthen operations and enhance service delivery, she explained, noting that more staff movements will follow in the coming days.

Among the new appointments is Abiola Peters, former Assistant Director, News and Current Affairs, and previously Head of News at Bond FM, who now takes over as General Manager, Radio One 103.5 FM.

He replaces Mr. Ogunbunmi, who has been reassigned as Head of Department, Journalism at the National Broadcast Academy (NBA).

Also promoted is Maria Ihuoma, now General Manager of Metro FM, who expressed appreciation to the management and pledged to uphold excellence in her new role.

“We understand that this new assignment comes with more responsibility,” she said.

“We are ready to rise to the occasion and take the stations to new heights.”Mrs. Ifeoma Okpala now assumes the role of Head, Corporate Communication and Development at FRCN Lagos Operations.

In goodwill messages, Deputy Director, ICT, Mrs. Aina Ajanaku, and Deputy Director, New Media, Julie Ekong congratulated the new General Managers, emphasizing that with greater roles come greater expectations.

“The reward for elevation,” one noted, “is more work.”
