Commissioner Orders Stop-Work on Magodo Site Over Lack of Approved Engineering Plan

The Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, has issued a stop-work order on a construction site located at 18 Kunle Ogedengbe Crescent, Magodo.

The directive will remain in effect pending the submission of an approved engineering drawing detailing proper drainage and adequate embankments for the adjoining road.

Dr. Olumide gave the order during an inspection tour of the area, stressing that the move was necessary to ensure safety and maintain orderly development.

According to the Commissioner, the concerned property, which is adjacent to Adetoro-Adelaja Road, poses implications for stormwater discharge, flood control, and overall infrastructure stability.

“For work to continue on this site, the developers must present their approved engineering design and demonstrate their commitment to adhering to approved standards, so as not to endanger others in the neighbourhood,” Dr. Olumide stated.

He reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to strictly enforcing the state’s physical planning laws and regulations, with the aim of safeguarding the environment and promoting orderly, livable, and sustainable urban growth.

Dr. Olumide was accompanied on the inspection by the Permanent Secretary, Office of Physical Planning, Engr. Oluwole Sotire, along with other senior management staff of the Ministry.
