Nigeria wrapped up their campaign in the Davis Cup 2025 Africa Group III tennis tournament with a 2-1 win over Senegal yesterday in Harare.
The victory comes as an icing on the cake for Team Nigeria who had already qualified for the World Group II Playoffs following a 3-0 sweeping win over hosts Zimbabwe two days ago.
Daniel Adeleye got Nigeria off to a flying start against Senegal with a straight-sets win, 6-4, 6-1.
Senegal levelled matters in the second singles match with Nigeria’s Christopher Bulus goring down 1–6, 4–6 to his better ranked opponent Zoheir Faardoun.
In the doubles, the Nigerian duo of Canice Abua and Emmanuel Michael partnered brilliantly to take the match 6-4, 6-4, clinching an overall 2-1 win over the Senegalese.
After winning 7 games and losing 5, Nigeria finished third in the final standings behind Senegal and group winners, Namibia.
The three nations Nigeria, Senegal and Namibia are now through to the World Group II playoffs in 2026.
