Lagos Begins Second Phase of Ogudu–Ifako Bridge Repairs August 19

The Lagos State Government will commence the second phase of maintenance works on the Ogudu–Ifako Bridge in Kosofe Local Government Area from Tuesday, August 19, through Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the fresh repairs will target the expansion joints on the bridge inbound Lagos Island.

He explained that the works would be executed in phases to reduce traffic disruption.

To ease movement, alternative routes have been mapped out. Motorists coming from Lagos–Ibadan Expressway/Lagos Toll Gate en route to Oshodi or Victoria Island will be diverted to one lane of the three-lane road about 50 metres before the repair zone, regaining full access shortly after.

Those heading to Oshodi may also use the Ojota Slip Road to link Ikorodu Road inward Anthony by Taxi Park, while those bound for Victoria Island can access Ikorodu Road inward Anthony by Town Planning Way, connecting through Gbagada to the Third Mainland Bridge.

Commuters can further opt for Ikorodu Road inward Funsho Williams Avenue to link Eko Bridge, or travel via Maryland to Funsho Williams Avenue and Eko Bridge to reach Outer Marina.

Ikeja-bound motorists may alternatively connect through Anthony by Taxi Park to Oshodi.

Osiyemi assured that traffic officers will be deployed along the corridor to minimise inconvenience and appealed for motorists’ cooperation with all traffic management measures.
