Obasanjo Reaffirms Support for Nigerian Engineers, to Attend International Conference

Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has once again thrown his weight behind the engineering profession, pledging his unwavering support to the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE both at the branch and national levels.

The former Head of State made this known when he received the President of the NSE, Mrs. Margaret Oguntala, during her official one-day visit to the Abeokuta Branch of the Society.

At the meeting held at his residence in Abeokuta, Chief Obasanjo not only commended the leadership of the Society but also assured the NSE President of his presence at the upcoming International Conference of Engineers scheduled to hold in Ibadan.

He described engineering as a driver of national development and reaffirmed his continued commitment to strengthening the profession.

Earlier, Mrs. Oguntala had praised the modest achievements recorded so far under her administration, noting that her focus remains on inclusiveness, innovation, and the growth of the profession.

She also used the occasion to formally invite the former President to the Ibadan Conference.

The NSE President was welcomed to the Abeokuta Branch Secretariat by the Branch Chairman, Mr. Olumayowa Idowu.

He described her visit as both historic and symbolic, one that reinforces the strong bond between the national secretariat and its branches.

Mr. Idowu applauded her visionary leadership and celebrated her as a trailblazer, inspiring generations of engineers nationwide.

The visit, which ended with renewed pledges of unity and collaboration, left members of the Society proud of the growing impact of their profession under the leadership of Mrs. Margaret Aina Oguntala.
